Fiona - Pet Care Professional

I've always had a passion for animals and knew from a young age that I wanted to work with them. Before starting my own business, I worked as a caretaker and key holder in a large secondary school, and I also spent time dog walking across Leicester for a family member — which is where my love for this work really took hold.

In January 2020, I took the leap and launched WagTastic Walks with little more than a few leads, a car, and a lot of passion. My client list was growing steadily — and then the UK went into lockdown due to Covid-19. Almost overnight, all non-essential work came to a halt and every walk had to be cancelled. When restrictions eventually lifted, many former clients were now working from home and no longer needed dog walking, so I found myself starting almost from scratch, rebuilding the business step by step.

That experience taught me a lot about resilience — and it's shaped how I run things today. What started as a small dog walking business in Bagworth has grown into a trusted pet care service across Coalville and the surrounding villages, offering group dog walks, home visits, and care for a wide range of animals. Over the years, I've cared for everything from dogs and cats to rabbits, reptiles, and even ducks, which has only reinforced my belief that every animal benefits from consistency, patience, and understanding.

Today, I lead the business alongside Fiona, providing secure field walks and home pet care across our local communities. My priority has always been to ensure every pet feels safe, happy, and cared for, while giving owners complete peace of mind.

I've always been an animal lover. As a child, after plenty of persuasion, my parents finally agreed to let my brothers and me have a cat — alongside my much-loved goldfish. Since then, my home has never been without animals, and over the years I've shared my life with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, chinchillas, snakes, and, most recently, an axolotl.

Before joining WagTastic Walks, I spent my career working in childcare and education, while raising my three children. They're all grown up now, and these days I get to enjoy the wonderful role of grandparent to my gorgeous grandson — a cheeky, three-year-old bundle of personality who I love spending time with.

I began helping Hannah with the business during school holidays and quickly realised how much I loved working with animals and being outdoors. I'd never really considered myself an "outdoors person" before, but this job has completely changed that — I've come to properly appreciate the beautiful walks and countryside around us, and I find myself fascinated by nature. Making the move into pet care felt like a natural next step, and I haven't looked back since.

I love getting to know each pet's unique personality, spending time outdoors with the dogs, and building real relationships with both pets and their owners. No two days are ever the same, and that's one of the things I enjoy most about the job.
